Two Decades to a Tune β Paul’s Ukulele Finally Sings
Paul Nelson bought a ukulele kit twenty years ago. It sat in a cupboard β until he joined KuShed and finally had the tools, the space, and the company to finish the job.

Some projects find their moment eventually. About twenty years ago, Paul Nelson bought a ukulele kit online from Stewmac. He started some basic work on it β and then it sat in a cupboard, waiting.
A Kit in a Cupboard
What the kit needed wasn’t just tools. It needed the right environment β a proper workspace, access to experienced hands, and the kind of unhurried time you get at a shed on a Tuesday morning. Paul recently joined KuShed and found all three.
The Shed Makes the Difference
With the tools and experience of fellow Shedders to draw on, Paul was finally able to bring the ukulele to life. The build came together over several sessions, with other members lending expertise at key moments.
Morning Tea Serenade
In mid-June 2025, Paul strung up his completed ukulele and provided some background music for the Tuesday group’s morning tea. It was, by all accounts, a fine moment. Paul vows it is a one-off build and he won’t be seen making another ukulele at the Shed β ever again.
