KuShed Fits Out the RFS
When East Killara’s Rural Fire Service moved into new headquarters, KuShed members built the furniture to help them settle in.
The East Killara Rural Fire Service Brigade Headquarters was recently officially opened. Even after completion, there were benches, trolleys, and racks still needed. Luckily one member, Rob Schild, belongs to both the Brigade and the Shed — and he put the two communities to work together.
A Community Within a Community
Rob and a team of Shedders built several pieces for the new headquarters. Mark Restuccia and Stephen Carroll helped build a workbench, and Mal Cocks assisted with a wooden double storage shelf mounted above it. Mike Levitan helped construct a mobile hose storage rack and also helped clean, sand, and repaint two surplus outdoor table-and-bench units that the Shed generously donated to the crew.
Small Tools, Big Thanks
The RFS also received a collection of small hand tools gathered over time — many courtesy of Mike Vernon and the broader Shed community. The Brigade expressed their gratitude warmly. It’s the kind of project that reminds everyone why a community workshop matters.
